Getting Registered

  1. In order to obtain space on the CU People system, you must fill out this web-based registration form, agreeing to the terms and conditions outlined in it. The computer you use to access the form must have Kerberos installed and be running SideCar, a program available through CIT's website.
  2. This registration form allows you to decide whether you want your personal web page address included within CUinfo's list of personal web pages and within your electronic phone book entry. Many people want their personal pages listed in these locations so that their friends, family members and colleagues can find them easily if they do not know or forget the page address. If you decline this option, you can manually add your page's address to these locations later. Please note that declining to have your page listed does not make it private; all web pages on the CU People system are publicly accessible and can be indexed by Internet search engines (robots) unless you specify otherwise (see the CU People FAQ page for relevant details).
  3. Another option on this form allows you to have a simple web page created for you automatically. This page may be useful to you if you're new to creating web pages and need a starting point. The page will contain your name, a short bit of text, two horizontal rules, and a link that can be used to send mail to you.
  4. After you click each of the boxes agreeing to the terms and conditions, select your preferred options, and click the submit button, an automatic process creates space for you on the server. This process takes about ten minutes, and e-mail is sent to you when it's complete. The e-mail message will contain the address of your home page.

I understand that the University will immediately suspend access to material on this server upon receipt of notice of a potential violation of university policies and codes, or state or federal laws. I also understand that if any of my pages is the subject of such a suspension, all of my pages will be suspended until such time as investigating officials are able to determine a course of action.

I understand that federal, state, local, and university regulations apply to my use of this service. I understand that the following activities are among the activities which are violations of those regulations:

I agree to adhere to all applicable University policies and codes, including:

I understand that this service is for posting my personal web pages and that I may not use my allocation to provide space for other individuals (including friends and family) or for organizations (including clubs and charities).

Enter your Network ID here: (use all lowercase letters and do NOT append @cornell.edu)

Choose whether or not you wish the following options (click the boxes to turn the option off or back on):

Add my home page URL to the CUinfo home page index and to my electronic directory listing (note that this URL will replace any already listed there). Many people want their personal pages listed in these locations so that their friends, family members and colleagues can find them easily if they do not know or forget the URL. If you decline this option, you can manually add your URL to these locations later. Please note that declining to have your URL listed does not make it private; all web pages on the CU People system are publicly accessible and can be indexed by Internet search engines (robots) unless you specify otherwise (see the CU People FAQ page for relevant details).

Create a default home page for me, which I can replace or modify later. If you're new to publishing on the web, we recommend that you leave this option selected. This file will have the name index.html and will be stored in your personal directory on the CU People system.

By clicking on the "Submit" button below, you are requesting web space on the CU People system, and agree to all of the terms outlined above.

Note: If you are experiencing difficulty in registering, please see our Registration Problems Page.
