Each semester, we cover TWO dances in depth. Students are welcome to take more than one semester for this reason. Fall 2008:: American Tango & Waltz Spring 2009: Hustle & ChaCha All semesters start with the Castle Foxtrot, an excellent intro to partner dance, and we feel that it is the BEST slow dance strategy around. In addition to innovative teaching methods, a unique aspect of our approach is that we continually revisit specific ways that both lady and fellow can look good & feel good on the dance floor. You are DANCERS, not just leader & follower! And there is lots more to each dance style than just different step patterns or a series of poses. There is drama, expression, lyricism, and the emotional connection to both your partner and the music. There is an energy that flows through you, and informs your motion. Yes, we are actually able to teach this. A hallmark of our instruction is considerable LADY'S STYLING. "It's elegance, grace, and culture made me feel like a real woman." - Spring 2007 student. BALLROOM INTENSIVE has an enrollment limit of 20 couples. There is a more stringent attendance commitment than for the other two sections - one cut, one makeup, with rare exceptions. Students from WED and SUN may not makeup by attending BALLROOM INTENSIVE, again with the rare exceptions. This will enable us to move faster, and get deeper, i.e. less total re-teaching of topics for those who missed the previous class! In this section, we will tend to teach to the committed students, rather than to those who miss classes. The BALLROOM INTENSIVE section will tend to attract students who are doing some practicing between classes. Don't get scared - there are no tests. This is simply a section for students who want more than a drop-in survey. It is quite a lot of fun! But it is not for those with a casual committment to paying attention in class. We are non-judgemental, entertaining, amusing instructors. We encourage questions, and give plenty of individual attention.

Shoes: bring clean leather sole shoes, or simply dance in your socks. The more dedicated students will bring dance shoes or dance sneakers to class. High heels with non-metal tips are fine, but no thin-spike heels for ladies, sorry they ruin the floor. Sneakers are OK; you just won't be able to pivot or spin too well. DANCE SHOES |
